ANKLA Announces Debut Los Angeles Gig With New Singer

ANKLA, the Los Angeles-based band led by former PUYA guitarist Ramón Ortíz, has announced its debut hometown show with new singer Eddie Macias. The concert will take place on Thursday, July 31 at the Whisky A-Go Go in West Hollywood and will feature support from up-and-coming Southern California metal band SANGRE.

SHINEDOWN Frontman Comments On Top 10 Debut

Atlantic Records recording group SHINEDOWN landed the biggest debut of its career yesterday (Wednesday, July 2) when its third album, "The Sound Of Madness", sold 50,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at #8 on the Billboard Top 200. This marks the first Top 10 album of the band's career.

'Black Metal Satanica' Documentary To Be Screened In Hollywood This Month

A new documentary about black metal called "Black Metal Satanica" will be screened at Laemmle's Sunset 5 theatre (8000 Sunset Blvd.) in West Hollywood, California on Friday, July 18 at 10:00 p.m.

The film's synopsis reads as follows:

"Church burning, grave desecration, Satanism and murder. This documentary film is about how the modern Vikings of Scandinavia took the music genre 'black metal' to its darkest abyss in the mid-'90s, and turned words into action and declared war against Christianity, and it all started a thousand years ago, when the Vikings ruled the North."

Directed by Mats Lundberg, "Black Metal Satanica" features interviews with such bands as WATAIN, DARK FUNERAL, SHINING, VREID, RIMFROST and MORDICHRIST.

DIMEBAG DARRELL Estate Joins Forces With ROCK AGAINST DIABETES

Rock Against Diabetes — an ongoing concert series and fundraising program with the goal of providing information and support to diabetics and people concerned about the disease worldwide — has announced a second event featuring the Dimebag Darrell Stage on October 25, 2008 in Las Vegas, NV. The union came from discussions about the events being held for Rock Against Diabetes with Rita Haney, Dimebag Darrell's longtime girlfriend.

METALLICA - Death Magnetic Box Set, LP Versions Detailed

METALLICA will release a Deluxe Box Set of their new album, Death Magnetic in September which includes the Death Magnetic digi, ten-track demo CD, making of Death Magnetic DVD, Death Magnetic flag, Death Magnetic plekter, t-shirt, USB memory stick (enabling digital download of Death Magnetic) and more. A five-LP version of Death Magnetic will also be available. Death Magnetic is "a stunning, overdue return to the shock and rush of the band's speed-metal monuments, 1984's Ride The Lightning and 1986's Master Of Puppets," according to Rolling Stone.

Slipknot unveil new masks ahead of fourth album

Slipknot have revealed a new set of masks in preparation for the release of their fourth studio album. The band have become well known for their often terrifying facewear, claiming that the masks are 'an integeral part of the band's identity'. Spinner.com is currently hosting an online photo gallery featuring shots of the new masks alongside images documenting the band's history so far. The Des Moines band will release new album 'All Hope Is Gone' on August 25.

AC/DC Is Back In 'Black Ice'

AC/DC have three titles that they are considering for for their upcoming album, including "Black Ice" (which is said to be "a frontrunner at the moment") and "Runaway Train". Danny Keenan of AC/DC's Australian record label Albert Music told Undercover News that a decision on the CD title will be made in the next week. Albert Music CEO Tim Prescott will head to New York for meetings over the AC/DC release next week.

SCARS ON BROADWAY Announce A Mini UK Tour

Scars On Broadway, the side-project from System Of A Down men Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan, have announced a four date UK tour for September.

Dates are:

September 17th - Birmingham Academy
September 18th - London Astoria
September 20th - Glasgow ABC
September 21st - Manchester Academy

INCUBUS To Take Extended Hiatus

Incubus have taken it upon themselves to take a much needed extended hiatus. The band have allegedly made the decision so they can concentrate their efforts on individual projects and will not return as a unit for anything up to two years. All of this comes as the band have struggled to recreate past glories and have somewhat strayed from their edgier sound.
